Missouri River Fly Fishing Report

The fishing on the Mighty Mo has been stellar so far. The streamer and nymph fishing has been quite epic! I have said it before and I will say it again, May is a great time to Fish the Missouri River. This time of year we see the fish transition into the faster more shallow water. Because of the rise in water temperatures the fish get more active. Active fish chase streamers better. The warmer water has the fish really putting on a fight. We have been throwing flashy type streamers on the cloudy days. As far as the nymph bite, there are alot of different things on the menu. Mother's Day caddis, March Browns, Scuds, Sow Bugs and some meat are all on the menu. Dry-Fly Fishing is non existent. You will have to wait till next month for that. If you don't mind lobbing the bobber, May is a great month to fish the Mo! We have landed multiple two foot brown trout so far.
